Before you meet
Most of the risk in online dating sits in the gap between talking and meeting. A few habits close most of it.
Money is the reddest flag there is
No genuine match will ask you for money, gift cards, crypto, or help moving funds — not for a plane ticket, a medical bill, a customs fee, or an investment opportunity they are excited about. This is the single most common way people are harmed on dating platforms. If money comes up, stop, and report it. You will not be embarrassing yourself; you will be helping us find them.
Meeting in person
- Meet somewhere public and busy for the first few dates. Soda City Market on a Saturday morning, Main Street coffee, the Riverwalk — daylight, other people around, easy to leave.
- Arrange your own transport, both ways. Do not be dependent on someone you have just met for how you get home.
- Tell someone the plan: who, where, and when you expect to be back. Share your live location with a friend for the evening.
- Keep your drink with you, and do not accept one you did not see poured.
- Leave whenever you want. You owe no one an explanation, a full drink, or a second hour. "I'm going to head out" is a complete sentence.
- Trust the feeling. Discomfort you cannot justify is still information.
Reporting and blocking
Every conversation has a report and block control. Blocking is immediate and silent — the other person is not told, and they disappear from your Discover results and messages.
Please report, even when you are unsure
You are not wasting our time and you will not get someone in trouble for a misunderstanding. A report that turns out to be nothing costs us a minute. A report you decided not to send can cost someone else a great deal. Reports are confidential; we never tell the reported person who raised it.
What to include
- What happened, roughly when, and whether it was on or off the platform.
- Screenshots if you have them — especially if the conversation moved to another app.
- Whether you feel unsafe right now, so we can prioritise it.
Report anything that involves money, threats, sexual content you did not agree to, someone who appears to be under 18, photos that are not of them, or behaviour that continued after you asked it to stop.
What we review, and what we can't
We review reported profiles and reported conversations. We do not run criminal background checks, we do not verify employment or identity documents, and we cannot vouch for anyone. No dating platform can. Treat every match as someone you have not yet met, because that is what they are.
Accounts are removed for harassment, threats, solicitation, scams, sexual content sent without consent, impersonation, and any indication of a user under 18. We remove first and review after when the report involves a credible safety risk.
Age and eligibility
Soda City Crush is strictly 18+. We are launching in a college town, so we will say this plainly: if you are under 18, this platform is not for you, and accounts we believe belong to minors are removed without warning. If you suspect an account belongs to someone under 18, report it — that report is always worth sending.
